The Gommiers of Saint Luce in Saint Lucia.

Under the twinning municipalities of Saint - Luce and Gros Islet, The Association - ST- Lucia - Martinique held December 14, 2012 the 22nd edition of Gommier boat race, which crossed the Strait.

Gommiers are canoes which were used by the Caribs and Arawaks and derive their name from the fact that they are cut in the trunk of a Gommier tree.
This colorful event, was honored by the presence of Hon. Lorne THEOPHILUS, Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries, Mrs. Emma HIPPOLYTE, Member of Parliament elected from Gros Islet, the Ambassador of France H.E Michel PROM and the Mayor of Gros Islet, Mr. Felix FINISTERRE.
