After the resounding victory at the polls on Tuesday by the Keith Mitchell New National Party (NNP), Leader of the National Democratic Party (NDC) Nazim Burke says he has accepted the verdict of the people and expressed words of encouragement to his Party supporters. He told them that it is not the end of the world and they have to look beyond March 13. He also congratulated Dr Keith Mitchell.
In his congratulatory message to his OECS counterpart, Dr Keith Mitchell, on his victory at the polls on Tuesday, Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he intends to do likewise and secure all seventeen seats of Parliament. Browne who is hoping for a whitewash, called the general election more than one year ahead of the constitutional deadline. Elections will be held in Antigua & Barbuda on March 21.

Speaking in relation to the win by Dr Keith Mitchell in Grenada, Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit has lashed out at opposition parties of the region saying that they are out of touch with the needs of the citizens and the realities of governance. He went further to say that they are unable to perform because they have a different perspective of what government is.
ENVIRONNEMENT - CHANGEMENT CLIMATIQUE
Germany’s new Ambassador to CARICOM Holger Michael presented his credentials to the regional body on Monday during which time an agreement totalling twenty-five million seven hundred thousand (25,700 000€) for a Sustainable Financing Mechanism for Marine Protection in the region. CARICOM Secretary General, Irwin LaRocque thanked Germany saying the agreement was both timely and relevant, given their driver to become climate resilient.

Britain is hoping to finalise the details of the transition and implementation period of its exit at a summit with the European Union on March 22-24. It has also vowed to adhere to the EU regulations for a time-limited period after it leaves the European Union in March 2019. The transition period is expected to last about two years after its departure date, despite the EU saying that it should end by December 31, 2020.
In an exclusive interview with the media, Director of the Alliance Française of Saint Lucia, Evelyne Gasse, has hailed praises on the recent production put on last Saturday by Bamboo Productions and Val Arts in association with the Alliance Française. The show which was performed in front of an audience of about 200 persons, portrayed the story of a slave rebellion gone wrong, and was also interwoven with both modern and traditional themes.
