The United States Embassy in Bridgetown has written to the Government of Antigua-Barbuda requesting formal accreditation to act as an observer at the next general elections to be held on Wednesday 21st March. A copy of the same was addressed to the supervisor of elections which is a bit unusual. The Government however has responded to the Embassy and also indicated that it would discourage official observation by any embassy accredited to the country. The Government also notes that the elections will be observed by the Organisation of American States (OAS) of which the United States is a member.
