Significant progress made in plans for Geothermal plant

Significant progress is being made for the plans for construction of a seven megawatt geothermal plant in the Roseau Valley. The project is to be funded by the Government of Dominica, along with financial contributions from the Government of the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Sindh respectively.

Magistrates needed but adequate pay is an issue

The Minister responsible for Justice has disclosed that there is indeed a need for more magistrates but says that the calibre of persons needed is not available locally. There are interested persons from overseas but the pay is an issue. He says there is need for an additional four magistrates. At present there is no operational court house in the south of the island due to a lack of magistrates.

New Coast Guard Base taking shape ; officers morale soar

Works on the new Coast Guard Base is progressing smoothly and a November deadline is expected. The Prime Minister who is also the Minister responsible for National Security says that his government is committed to improving infrastructure for the men and women who serve in law enforcement and national defence. The Coast Guard members are eagerly waiting to move into their new home.
