Following their recent trip to China, members of the opposition United Workers Party are calling on the Roosevelt Skerrit Government to immediately appoint a Dominican resident Ambassador to the country. Since the former Resident Ambassador demitted office in 2009, there has yet to be an appointment considering the important relationship between the two countries. The party is also emphasizing that the appointment be a Dominican national who did not purchase his/her citizenship.

The 13th Governor of the British Virgin Islands in the person of Augustus Jaspert was sworn in yesterday. Premier and Minister of Finance welcomed him and pledged his Government’s commitment and support. Leader of the Opposition also welcomed the new Governor. The Governor is appointed by her Majesty Queen of England as her representative in the British Overseas Territory.

The much controversial Citizenship by Investment Programme which is operational in majority of the OECS member countries will soon see the establishment of a commission to govern the programme. The Leaders of the respective member countries are in agreement with such. Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda says that a position paper will be discussed at the OECS level, after which the regional body will meet for a final determination.
In a previous blog-post, US financial crime expert Kenneth Rijock alleged that a Grenadian approved CIP marketing agent Henley & Partners received a significant sum of money from an individual with a promise to secure a diplomatic passport from Grenada in return. The Government of Grenada categorically refutes any knowledge of such and said the claims are without truth. They went further to name the blogger as a convicted criminal turned financial analyst. A lawsuit was filed against Mr Rijock last month by officials from Dominica in a similar matter
