A Former Dean of the University of the West Indies has joined well-known regional pollster, Peter Wickham, in his call for the Freundel Stuart Administration to call early elections so the country can address its critical economic and social problems. They say the current administration is bankrupt on ideas, and the longer they stay in office the more damage will be done.

Tropical system to bring severe weather to Eastern Caribbean

According to the National Hurricane Centre in Miami, a tropical depression could form later Thursday. The chance of a tropical cyclone forming within the next five days is estimated to be high. Regardless of its development, heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected to spread across the Eastern Caribbean.

CARICOM SG asks Sweden’s help on blacklisting issue

During the accreditation ceremony of Sweden’s new Ambassador to CARICOM, the Secretary General of the regional body called on the Ambassador to assist in encouraging two major international bodies, of which her country is a member, to desist from their unnecessary seemingly punitive actions and labelling of the Community’s member states as “non-cooperative tax jurisdictions”.
