Goût de France / Good France 2017: a dinner to celebrate gastronomy worldwide
On the occasion of the launch of 2017’s event, Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and Chef Alain Ducasse presented the participating restaurants, in countries all around the world, which will be showcasing French art de vivre and produce.
A celebration of world heritage
Goût de France / Good France is inspired by Auguste Escoffier, who launched the “Dîners d’Épicure” (Epicurean Dinners) initiative in 1912: the same menu, on the same day, in several world cities, for as many guests as possible. It is also a key opportunity to promote France as a destination, as we know that a third of tourists say they come to France for its cuisine – and the “gastronomic meal of the French” is on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Chefs from all over the world now cook a dinner in the French tradition every year in tribute to the excellence of French cuisine and its capacity to innovate and unite people around the common values of environmentally friendly and healthy sharing and enjoyment.
A focus on training
For its third edition, Goût de France / Good France is putting the spotlight on training for the catering, hospitality and tourism sectors, involving schools and students from around the world in the various dinners organized across the planet.
