Wednesday, 2nd May, 2018 at 17:30 the Alliance Française of St. Kitts and Nevis participated in the Book Launch Ceremony "From Siberia to St. Kitts: A Teacher’s Journey » by Mr. Ira Simmonds at the Government House of St. Kitts and Nevis.

This is the posthumous biography of Mrs. Katzen, a French and Spanish teacher in St. Kitts. This teacher has particularly marked the Federation by her career, her teaching methods and her investment in the lives of the students. The Alliance Française was invited to collaborate to this event as the cultural and pedagogical approaches of French reside at the heart of the narration of the book.

In order to concretize the role of Mrs. Katzen during the ceremony, the Alliance presented a video containing the testimonials and general opinions of former students about the professor, retracing the best memories of a remarkable educational experience.

The video, part of the program of the ceremony, was launched after the speech of His Excellency Governor General Sir Tapley Seaton and the presentation of the book by the author Mr. Ira Simmonds. The guests then spoke, with some anecdotes about the teacher and highlighted the role she played in their lives and in learning French in the Federation.

There were approximately 70 guests in attendance at the Ceremony. The importance of the presence of L’Alliance Française was noticed several times during the various speeches and the French language was at the center of discussion at this event.
