Election of Audrey Azoulay to UNESCO
Audrey Azoulay was elected by UNESCO’s Executive Board and is expected to become the next Director General. A vote will now be put forward for approval to UNESCO’s 195 members on Nov. 10.
The election of Audrey Azoulay marks the beginning of a new era; it will carry an ambitious, demanding and innovative project for UNESCO, which will strengthen its prominent position within the UN system.
Candidate of France, Audrey Azoulay will, as of her appointment, act as an impartial director general, committed to respecting the commitments made during her campaign and guided by the concerns of UNESCO, its action and objectives, which she is working towards, in particular that of Sustainable Development Objectives No. 4 relating to education.
