French Overseas Regions and OECS rapprochement - extracts of the 54th meeting of the OECS authority - Saint-Lucia, January 23 and 24, 2012
On the occasion of the 54th meeting of the OECS Authority, the OECS Heads of Government warmly welcomed the requests from Guadeloupe and Martinique to formally establish closer relationships with the OECS. The Meeting also welcomed the letter of support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France endorsing the request from Guadeloupe and Martinique.
The meeting agreed that a process of engagement should be initiated in the shortest possible time with the intention of commencing negotiations with Martinique and Guadeloupe before May of this year.

Since June 8th 2010, France has an Ambassador accredited to the Organization of the States of Caribbean Eastern (OECS).
